Triphenyl phosphate (flame retardant TPP) is a phosphorus-containing compound, which can be used as a halogen-free environment-friendly flame retardant for dissolving in organic solvents. White, odorless crystalline powder, slightly deliquescent; vapor pressure 0.01kPa/20℃; flash point 220℃; melting point 47-53℃; boiling point 370℃; solubility: insoluble in water, slightly soluble in alcohol, soluble in benzene , chloroform, acetone, easily soluble in ether; relative density (water=1): 1.21; relative vapor density (air=1) 9.42; stability: stable; danger mark: flammable, toxic, harmful to the environment

(1) Physical properties
White, odorless crystalline powder, insoluble in water, easily hydrolyzed to form free phenol in the presence of moisture, soluble in organic solvents such as alcohol, ether, benzene and acetone, and has the effect of absorbing ultraviolet rays. 
(2) Product use
1. Mainly used as a flame retardant plasticizer for engineering plastics and phenolic resin laminates;
2. It is used as a softener for synthetic rubber, as a raw material for the manufacture of trimethyl phosphate, etc.;
3. Used as nitrocellulose and cellulose acetate, flame-retardant plasticizer, fire-resistant solvent, nitrocellulose paint, synthetic resin, sizing agent for roofing paper, and camphor substitute in the manufacture of celluloid, etc.

(3) Production method
Phosphorus trichloride indirect method (cold method) and phosphorus oxychloride direct method (thermal method).
1. Dissolve phenol in pyridine and anhydrous benzene solvent by cold method, then add phosphorus trichloride dropwise at 40 °C to generate triphenyl phosphite, and continue to pass chlorine gas at 70 °C to generate dichlorophosphoric triphenyl acid , and then hydrolyzed at 80 °C to generate triphenyl phosphate. The hydrolyzate is washed with water, neutralized with alkali, concentrated, and then distilled under reduced pressure to obtain the finished product; (refining method: often contains impurities such as phenol, phosphoric acid and acid phenyl phosphate. Use ethanol or a mixture of ethanol and solvent gasoline for recrystallization and purification. )
2. Dissolve phenol in pyridine and anhydrous benzene solvent by thermal method, slowly add phosphorus oxychloride under 10℃, then react at reflux temperature for 3-4h, after cooling to room temperature, the reactant is washed with water Recover pyridine, dehydrate with anhydrous sodium sulfate, remove sodium sulfate by filtration, and recover benzene by distillation under normal pressure; collect fractions at 243-245°C/1.47kPa by vacuum distillation, and obtain the finished product after cooling, crystallization and pulverization. 
(4) Storage and transportation methods
1. Precautions for transportation: The packaging should be complete at the time of departure, and the loading should be secure. During transportation, make sure that the container does not leak, collapse, fall or be damaged. It is strictly forbidden to mix and transport with oxidants. During transportation, it should be protected from exposure to sunlight, rain, and high temperature;
2. Storage precautions: Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat sources. should be kept away from oxidizer, do not store together. Equipped with the appropriate variety and quantity of fire equipment. Storage areas should be provided with suitable materials to contain spills.
